We have nearly finished two entire months of 2013, and it has taken me just that long to get my new office nook neat and organized. One of my new year's resolutions was to accomplish one organizational project a month in hopes to regain some sanity and order. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I decided to begin with the office area for a number of reasons. One being, because I'm totally neurotic, it made sense to work from left to right in my dining room/ kitchen. I dreaded paying bills because the office area was always a mess, but bills were always paid on time. HO-LY SMOKES! I had no idea it was this bad...
Buzz, your girlfriend! WOOF!
In my defense, that photo was taken after I started pulling out and organizing files. So, I guess it's not that bad. Some projects simply must look catastrophic before perfection- right?!
TA-DA! Can you believe I moved all that stuff to this space? Yup, it's there. I found the Pinspiration here.
Here's a closer look at the cabinets and drawers:
The top cabinet contains two card organizers. One is for Thank You cards and blank cards, the other is for Birthday, Anniversary, Sympathy, and other great cards I find at Hallmark. There is also two letter organizers for blank envelopes and our monthly cash envelopes. As well as a jar for our singles and change. (I will be doing a separate post on our budgeting system next month). I made some cute jars to hold rubber bands, staples, and papers clips. I used clear stackable containers to hold colored pencils, pencils & pens, washable markers, crayons, permanent/Mommy-Only markers, and extra checks. I think my favorite container EVER is the battery organizer I found! No more stray batteries! On the inside of the cabinet door there are cork tiles to post love notes to my husband.
The counter space is where I put my computer when I'm working on stuff. I put a small basket on there to use as a catch-all. No more out of control kitchen counter! When it's not being used, the computer is in the drawer. It's a great way to keep the area tidy and conserve energy!
The bottom cabinet has the scanner/printer- which is set up to print wirelessly. I'm really proud of this, since I'm technologically challenged. There are also four binders (household/budget, kids, my inspirations, and extra page protectors/tab dividers/etc) and four of those gray boxes (monthly bills, banking, frequent paperwork, and health care).
Madeline would say, "SHOOOO WEEEE!" That is a ton of stuff! Good thing I had some help labeling!
Here is where I found e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g:
Cork Tiles- Walmart
Change Jar- Walmart
Binders- Walmart
File Boxes- Walmart. They were black, but I spray painted them gray.
I spray painted the lid from baby food jars for the rubber bands, paper clips, and staples.
Next stop: The Pantry!
